Accessible Tourism is a huge and growing market
One in five people in the U.K. have an impairment. This may affect where they choose to stay or visit, which makes Accessible Tourism a huge and growing market.
People with health conditions and impairments and their travelling companions spend over £15.3 billion on trips in England each year and research by VisitBritain shows that an extra £116.7 million could be generated from additional trips if accessibility was improved.
Accessible Tourism is also one of the key elements of the new government Tourism Sector Deal announced in 2019, which aims for the U.K. to be THE most accessible tourism destination in Europe by 2025.
At Welcome to Yorkshire, we are committed to playing a leading role in delivering this strategy by supporting you, our members, to improve your accessibility and increase your share of this valuable market.
