Economic Growth & Visitor Statistics

  • £8 billion Tourism is worth to the Yorkshire economy - this equates to a 14% increase from the last report in 2011*
  • £1.617 billion spend by overnight domestic visitors
  • Overseas visitors (international) nights per visit went up by 11%
  • Overseas visitors (international) visitor trips increased by around 6%
  • 8.3% of all (overnight) tourism to Yorkshire, come from Yorkshire - by far the highest in England
  • Tourism Day Visitors were up by twice as much as the 4% national average for England - at 8%
  • Tourism Day Visitors spend for day trips was up 3% compared with a national average of 0.2%
